The King is Back! | Vikram Movie Review by Guru

Vikram, directed by Lokesh Kanakaraj and starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role, has been released globally today.  It is safe to say that there is no other Tamil film that has received so much hype recently.  Fahadh Fazil, Kamal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi and Surya in guest roles along with Kamal Haasan are the stars of the show.  With the arrival of its mass trailer, the entire social media was filled with Vikram discussions and fan theories.  Now, the film has reached the audience.  Produced by Kamal Haasan himself under the banner of Rajkamal International, the film is directed by Lokesh Kanakaraj and Ratnakumar.  Films that reach great hype often have those expectations dashed.  Most of the time, we see films that do not live up to the expectations of the audience.  Very rarely do certain films go beyond their expectations or live up to their expectations.  It is safe to say that Vikram is in the second category.  Lokesh Kanakaraj is literally a commercial masterpiece.

The film stars Karnan as Kamal Haasan, Amar as Fahad Fazil and Santhanam as Vijay Sethupathi.  Karnan is the father of a slain police officer named Prapanchan, played by Kalidas Jayaram.  The film opens with the news that Karnan has also been killed.  To investigate this series of murders that kill policemen.  Amar leads a sleeper investigation team for the government.  Amar and his team are investigating a series of murders carried out by a group of masked men and the disappearance of a cocaine container.  They seek out a relationship between each other and end up in a world full of drug trafficking, gang warfare, and a series of murders.  Vijay Sethupathi's son, a drug dealer and criminal, enters the world and a big war ensues.  At the same time, Amar, who is also investigating the character of Karnan, comes across many of his stories.  Not only does Amar not know if he's real, but he also has strong doubts about whether he was actually killed or alive.
Director Lokesh Kanakaraj has created a lot of trust and hope in the audience with his previous films.  He has also given an output through Vikram that fully validates it.  The script written by him and Ratnakumar is the backbone of this film.  In short, Vikram is a thriller that tells a story very seriously.  But Lokesh's precision in capturing the thrilling moments of the audience underscores his excellence.  By precisely controlling the pace at which the story progresses, Lokesh Kanakaraj was able to influence the audience's emotions and level of excitement through those ups and downs.  The director's success is due to the fact that he uses the film's twists, mass scenes and punchy dialogues without overuse, at the right time and in the right place.

As well as being a actual mass action thriller and an investigative thriller, the emotional moments that Kamal Haasan brings to the audience in the context of it all touch the minds of the audience and they travel as part of the film with its extraordinary writing style excellence.  Even the guest role played by Surya for a few minutes, set the theaters on fire and the intensity of the film's storytelling and the excitement that Vikram gives to the audience to wait for the third part is immense.  The biggest advantage of this film is that not even a small character is insignificant in the twist.  Even each dialogue is written about measurement.  The way the actors were handled is also commendable.  While not a groundbreaking contribution to the genre, Kamal Haasan impresses with his straightforward tough-guy style.  Although he did not have much time in the first half, Lokesh was able to create a real Kamal Haasan show later on with the interval part.

Fahad Fazil, who filled the first half, and Vijay Sethupathi, who portrayed the cruel villain Santhanam, get the applause.  Vijay Sethupathi's body language and facial expressions can be said to be extraordinary.  Narine's Police Officer Bijoy, Chemban Vinod's Jose and Kalidas Jayaram's Prapanchan also make their presence known despite the lack of time.  The look, body language and overall feel of the character of Rolex, played by Surya, create a great deal of excitement among the fans.  Vikram's connection with the movie Kaithi and the Kamal Haasan-Surya fight that we are going to see in the third part of Vikram have been captured by Lokesh in a very good way.
Anirudh Ravichandran once again applauds with his magnificent background music, while Gireesh Gangadharan and Philomen Raj, who edited the scenes, are also to be commended.  The two main negatives that can be said for the film as a whole are that it moves forward in a slightly predictable way in the second half and has a great length of time.  Similarly, Fahadh Fazil and Vijay Sethupathi would have gone deeper into the characters and the impact they would have had if there had been a little more excellent writing in the character formation.  In any case, Vikram's film is presented to the audience as a 'pakka andavar vilayattam.'  Lokesh Kanakaraj has prepared a magnificent visual treat for the audience who loves mass action thriller films.  Vikram is sure to be another milestone in the career of Kamal Haasan.  Vikram is one of the most sought after films in the industry as it is one of the most sought after theater experiences.
