Hey friends, I'm back with a new lesson here. Most of my candidates tell me that they face difficulty when writing in IELTS; especially, yes! You thought it correct, Task 02. And yes I understand that it happens and it's completely normal to feel so. However, we are going to look at some points here which I'm hundred percent sure of which can help you to become a good writer and crack task 02 as easily as possible! So let's have a look at it.
1. Planning
Oh yes! Generally, we tend to start writing every task in IELTS without any planning. However we need to change this attitude and first of all, start planning our essay. When I started practicing IELTS for the first time I also did the same that I didn't have the habit of planning the essay. Maybe we can say that it is our overconfidence that we may get points while writing the essay but the thing is we often run out of points or ideas. So here is what I suggest, first of all, you plan your essay then start writing with proper structure. Also, I can suggest that you can spend around 10 to 12 minutes planning then also you will be able to finish the task within 40 minutes.
2. Mimic the Experts!
Eww! Most of the candidates tell me that they are not interested in copying others and want to develop their own style from scratch. I really appreciate the attitude from the view of writing skills. However, the problem with IELTS practice is that we have a time limit. So we should be finding easy ways to complete tasks within no time as we have to get some time for proofreading in the end. So here I would like to suggest that it is always beneficial to read sample answers from experts and start developing your essay with their support and gradually, trust me,! You will start developing your own style because once we get the idea then of course we will polish our language and make it more impressive. However, make sure that you have an expert opinion on every task you do!
03. Use Advanced Phrases Only!
For us, it is common to use basic vocabulary since we are so familiar with those words and phrases. But here we have to change our attitude that is will be using only advanced phrases and we have to make it a rule in our writing. Then we have to develop a mentality to write advanced phrases or usages in our essays which enables us to hit high bands. Always keep in mind that whenever we write the first rule is 'NO BASIC WORDINGS'.
04. Error-free Passages
The overall glimpse of our essay is the most significant factor we should be looking at, i.e. error-free! To be frank, in my opinion, whether you have written a high band essay though you are more likely to get a low band just because of the errors. So give prime concern to the errors and make it better with moderate vocabulary if you needed 6 bands. That's the easiest way to hit average bands with minimum effort.
05. Try a different approach
You know guys when I started taking my classes for the first time I was really curious about writing an essay just because I was one of the toppers in my school. But surprisingly I got 4 bands for my first essay. The primary reason was my approach. Then I gradually started understanding that the approach should be changed if you want to be an IELTS aspirant. So that's how I changed my mind and started thinking in a different way always instead of thinking in a traditional way. Currently, the first session now in my classes is about this and fortunately, I'm able to convince and make my candidates understand about this which leads them to the right way of writing an effective essay.
Ok friends, that's a wrap! I shared my experience with you by providing some of the rules I followed and ended up getting high bands in IELTS. So I can guarantee you that you also can get a high score in IELTS by pursuing the above-mentioned ideas. Keep in touch guys and comment with your doubts if any! I'm always ready to help you!
