Mammootty's stunning performance, 'Rorschach' review

'Rorschach' is a film that attracted attention due to the curiosity of the name itself. From the announcement till the release, 'Rorschach' was kept in the active discussion of the audience with promotional materials filled with mystery. The cinematography of 'Rorschach', which has finally reached the theatres, has fulfilled the expectations of the audience. 'Rorschach' is a film that gives a full-length thrilling experience on many levels.
It starts with Mammootty walking onto the screen. Mammootty as UK citizen 'Luca' is about to file a complaint at the police station. 'Luca' tells the police that when he opened his eyes, he was stunned by the car accident and found his wife missing. After that, the policemen and locals are searching for 'Luca's' wife in that forest area. Luca's wife is missing. 'Luca' decides to stay in the country for a while with the hope of meeting his wife. But there are other goals in front of that decision of 'Luca'. What are those goals? 'Rorschach' is a journey to answer such questions - who is really 'Luca?'

'Rorschach' is directed by director Nizam Basheer, who made his debut with his first film 'Kettyolan Ente Malakha'. Nizam Basheer has adopted an experimental narrative for the film. The narrative of the film is such that after presenting a mysterious plot, it is revealed one by one by taking curious twists and turns. The director's skillful narration also makes the theme believable with an unusual background. Nizam Basheer has been able to visualize the different thoughts and experiences of 'Lucky' by inviting and visualizing the thoughts of the audience in such a way that only the words are imperceptible. Nizam Basheer has managed to connect the film with various layers such as psychological, supernatural, revenge drama, etc. without demarcating it in a restricted genre and connect with the audience precisely. Screenwriter Sameer Abdullah's vigilance has also helped the director to turn Rorschach into a film with relatively less crime.
The look and feel of 'Luca' is somewhat different from Mammootty's current roles. It is Mammootty's meticulous expression that lays the foundation for maintaining the mystery that the theme of 'Rorschach' demands throughout the film. Mammootty's foray into a character with a conflicted and varied background also activates the audience's enjoyment level. Mammootty dazzles on screen with the nuanced facial expressions and dialogue rhythms of 'Luca'. 'Roshak' also helped in Bindu Panicker's spectacular comeback after being away from the screen for a long time. Bindu Panicker's performance of the character of 'Sita', which does not require many disguises, is insightful. Sharafuddin and Jagadish's looks and movements are eye-catching. Grace Antony, Sanju Shivram, Kottayam Naseer etc also stand out in the performance as per the need of the theme.

Background music is the element that brings the theme of 'Rorschach' to the audience in its intensity. The film's thriller-horror feel is maintained by the background score. The background music is composed by Mithun Mukundan. The editing is done by Kiran Das, who captures every shot and scene without disturbing the enjoyment of the film while advancing the experimental model.
Nimish Ravi's camerawork also makes 'Rorschach' a great theatrical experience. His cinematography fulfills the need of the theme beyond mere scenery. The theater view of 'Rorchach' is a testimony that Mammootty is not ready to compromise on the production standards of the company. 'Rorschach' is sure to be a technological cinematic experience.
